Pearl of Africa - Uganda Christian ministry - spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ: We are located in beautiful western Uganda in the town of Fort Portal. Uganda is a country rich in nature and its wonderful people.

Fort Portal, is 200 kilometres from Kampala, and, although called a city, is, in our standards a town. The people are so very poor. Our sincere desire is to help them to help themselves and become self-sufficient, and so improve on the living conditions in this country.
Due to our being located near to the Gorillas, the Chimpanzees, the Pygmies, the Renzori Mountain Range on the Congo Border, and a good number of sights, such as National Parks, Crater Lake Area, and local lakes, and the fact that the new hi-way from Kampala to Fort Portal has just been completed, many more tourists are travelling to, and staying in Fort Portal.
Like most African countries poverty, disease, and premature death dominate the peoples lives. It is most common for visiting ministries to see the need for education, medical care, and providing for orphans and this becomes their ministry.
We thank God for those who give so much for the care of the Ugandan people as, financially, we are able to contribute only a little in these areas. However God has blessed us with a ministry that perfectly compliments these wonderful efforts! We are bringing the Good News of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God and equipping the saints for the work of the ministry through intense Biblical training in Gods Word. Eph. 4:12. We are reaching the Christians in three districts and have enrolled approximately 200 pastors and elders representing their churches. As these men, women, and even older students, learn they take Gods Word back to their churches and as we have learned even to other districts and countries!!! The power to change this world is, first, in Gods Word, and second, in being a doer of His Word. James 1:22.
We have many opportunities for ministry and for you to contributeplease pray and ask God how you can helpeven come and visit us! Our accommodations are quite good!
Thank you so much for browsing our website. May God bless you!

to see God's Kingdom come, first in the lives of the Christians here in Western Uganda and then through them in their homes, their villages, towns and cities, then in the Republic of Uganda, the continent of Africa and then the whole earth! Our Ministry is to the churches in the Western regions of Uganda surrounding the town of Fort Portal: the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry and the edifying of the body of Christ. Eph 4:12, 2Tim. 3:17 through teaching and discipleship. We offer a basic series of 5 teachings (15 hours) on "Becoming Kingdom Servants." Teachings include a full description of Kingdom of God and the fall of satan and how the world became his kingdom; we are to become like Jesus; the mind submitted to Christ and the Holy Spirit; the greatest of all, love; the Christian character. Upon successfully completing this course students are given a certificate. Those who hold certificates and all pastors are then eligible to enrol in the discipleship series. This program consists of 24 meetings (72 hours) and focuses especially on developing character, interpersonal skills, ministry and leadership ethics and skills totally from a Biblical basis. This program is intense and is directed at identifying and enhancing each individual's God-given talents (gifts) so that they are prepared to carryout God's will for their lives and ministries. We believe and adhere to all the basic tenets of the Christian faith. We believe that all scripture is the inspired word of God for what we believe and for instruction in righteousness (2Tim. 3:16) and is truth (John 17:17; Ps. 119: 151, 160). We especially believe that we are to be doers of God's Word (James 1:22), that our lives are to be a standard of Godly behaviour to all others (1Pet. 1:13; 2Thess. 4:7; Phil 1:27; Col. 1:10; 2Thess 2:12), that faith without works is no faith (James 2: 14-26; 1Jn. 2:3-6), and that the First and Second Great Commandments must be expressed throughout our language and our actions (Matt. 22:37, 39). We had our special celebration day at church where members were asked to invite guests with a meal to be provided to conclude our day. There were several purposes in mind.
We want the church to be a place where people in the village know they can come and receive solid teaching, have fun, be cared for, etc. In otherwords we believe a church should be the center of a village and a standard of Jesus Christ to its residents. Also I wanted the church members to have an opportunity to show us what they can do and providing the day was a success to feel good about their accomplishment. We did all of the above! Our members number 65 and we counted as many as 150 in attendance!
Now a special service here means at least 4 hours! We had singing from our orphans and little ones (most of our orphans are toddlers to 9-10 yrs), the choir performed two songs, the dancers did their native dance (see photo) to the Lord (this we must describe in more detail!), the ladies did an absolutely marvelous skit of the prodigal son (click here to view) and Heather and I did a skit involving many church adults and children about the fall of satan landing on earth and how he sought revenge on God (the disobedience to God of man brought evil into the world).
In these special services everyone of any status is introduced. We had four visiting pastors, 2 medical students (one from the area where Kony and his Lord's Resistance Army operates...described those horrible conditions and one from Kenya) and a time of testimony where Pastor Johnson's brother in law described how he was was dying of bone cancer (incurable by doctors) and how members of the church came to him to pray for him and he received a miracle healing.
We took our four neighbor children...we live in a muslim neighborhood...the sister is 15 with three brothers aged about 11 -7 and we sat them in the front row and could tell they enjoyed the service. Their mother agreed to come but was sick. We are slowly but most definitely beginning to exercise our influence through our expressions of love, neighborlyness, and example!
God bless you all for your support and caring for God's people and for us! It is truly appreciated,
Alan and Heather
